Mehr als 30 hiesige Unternehmen aus dem Tourismussektor sind derzeit bei der Internationalen Tourismus-Börse (ITB) in Berlin vertreten und werben mit Produkten und Serviceleistungen für Namibia. Unter anderem vertreten sind Air Namibia, der namibische Rastlagerbetreiber NWR und die Lodge-Gruppe Gondwana....

WINDHOEK, 07 MAR (NAMPA) - Namibia was named Best Safari and Wildlife Destination and Best Emerging Destination by the Pacific Areas Travel Writers Association (PATWA) at the Internationale Tourismus-Börse Berlin (ITB Berlin), which started on Monday.
A media statement issued by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism on Thursday said Minister Pohamba Shifeta was also named Best Tourism Minister.
The PATWA International Travel Awards are handed out once a year in March at ITB Berlin.
Accepting the awards, Shifeta said credit should go to the women and men in rural areas who live with wildlife and strive for balanced land use and a healthy environment.
“The awards could not have come at a better time than now; while we are battling to control poaching of our rhinos and elephants. This will encourage us as the authority and our various stakeholders to do more to stop poaching of high value species.”
He added tha Namibia is encouraging conservation in other countries in the Southern African Development Community to ensure that fragmented wildlife habitats are joined into an interconnected mosaic of protected areas and trans-boundary wildlife corridors, which facilitates and enhances the free movement of animals across international borders.
The ITB attracts an average of 109 000 visitors and 10 000 exhibitors from all over the world.
More than 30 Namibian tourism companies, under the banner of the Namibia Tourism Board, are also represented at the tourism trade fair.

Ich bin ja leider nicht dort, aber es würde mich schon reizen, die Marketing-Vertreter von AN mal drauf anzusprechen, man habe gehört, AN könne sich eine Reparatur der Entertainment-Systeme an Bord seit Jahren nicht mehr leisten oder bekomme das Kerosion in Frankfurt nur noch auf Vorkasse.
