An update from Rachel from Xomae Group.
>>>This is why the decision was made to kerp the Reserve closed for now.
Good morning Stella
My update from Moremi
We left Maun around 11am and arrived around 11pm at third bridge
Shorobe to mawana gate is exiting from the start because it's dry with detours where there is water crossings
Just a few kilometers towards mawana gate there are deep smooth mud and thick mud with trucks forrows stuck and maybe trying to figure out how to get out and they are all over the road
You need to be extra careful to find a way through
There was a truck loaded that we found stuck on Thursday and found it on our way back on Saturday but I think it was recovered Monday
Mawana gate to kazikini is fine with puddle's of water and duable
Towards south gate is drama again
Too much mud with deep truck furrows and still you battle to cross
Then just after south gate by kwalata office there is water crossing with deep hole and still damage by trucks
The same thing all the way to xakanaxa airstrip turn
I think the road need needs grating
Also for DWNP to stop trucks for some time because there is no way the park will recover soon because it's getting worse
On our Way we had to check the roads for holes to avoid getting stuck
We also met a convoy of 4 trucks driving out 1 with a break down
But what I discovered is that yes the park was closed yet trucks were allowed same applies to the south gate first and second bridge road that was also damaged by trucks carrying loads of material and getting stuck
Xakanaxa third bridge dry route the water is still high but if you scoute if first you don't get stuck but it river water and has crocodiles
There water around third bridge and we couldn't see well coz it was dark
Now on Saturday because we were now aware of the road conditions and how to go about it we left 3rd around 830am, around 11am we were at south gate and we were shocked as much as DWNP staff
We arrived Maun around 1pm with a challenge of stater
That is what I have.
The park has to closed for at least 2 weeks like they did years back and only allowed small vehicles for supplies and then when it's dry then they can grate it
Eish Stella it bad...<<<
Ich sehe die angesprochenen Stellen deutlich vor mir - auch dieses Loch kurz nach South Gate, da sind sogar wir, bzw. Diteko mal kurz hängengeblieben 🙄 .
