The public is informed that Khwai bridge is under going structural maintenance and therefore Khwai/North gate will be closed for a period of 3 days 15/11/22-17/11/22.

The structural damage to the bridge is far greater than originally anticipated.
The closure of Khwai/ North Gate Bridge has been extented to MONDAY 21 NOVEMBER 2022.
I'll keep you updated.
In the meantime you will have to use South Gate.

The closure of Khwai/ North Gate Bridge has been extented until further notice.
I'll keep you updated.
In the meantime you will have to use South Gate.

If you see any waterholes not working along your route within the ckgr then please just let me know, they are currently all working now.
Xade now has a second watering hole up and running...

Khwai/North Gate Update.
The bridge repairs have taken longer due to having to replace the vital supports.
The building team are working flat out to get it repaired.
I'll notify you as soon as possible when it is repaired.
SORRY in the meantime you will have to use South Gate to enter and exit Moremi Game Reserve.

Hier nur ein kleiner update bzgl. der Brücken im Moremi. Wir sind gerade aus Namibia und Botswana zurückgekehrt. Wie schon geschrieben wurde ist die Brücke am North Gate gesperrt. Wir sind (von Savuti kommend) vom Mabate Gate aus gekommen erst in Richtung South Gate gefahren, konnten dann aber bereits an Position -19.334139, 23.9185 rechts abbiegen in Richtung Moremi. Nach ca. 20 Km ging es noch einmal rechts ab in Richtung North Gate. Nach 24 Km sind wir dort gut angekommen. Es ist also nicht erforderlich über South Gate zu fahren.
Die fourth Bridge ist in einem schlechten Zustand. Es fehlen bereits Stämme so dass wir Slalom um die Löcher herum fahren müssten. Ist aber grundsätzlich alles möglich. Die Third Bridge ist TOP! Wir sind auch am 19.11 über die second Bridge gefahren nachdem die Aussage an der Rezeption war dass die Brücke befahrbar ist. Ein Teil liegt unter Wasser ist aber fest (s. Foto)

Die Abkürzung ist die Ost-West Cutline entlang der Parkgrenze nördlich der Mankwe Lodge. Interessant, dass man da ohne Zäune oder Verbotsschilder in den Moremi auf die South Gate - North Gate Piste kommt.

....An update:
All roads in Moremi are accessible except the Bodumatau Loop - its still under so much water.
The water levels are rising so please be careful.
2nd Bridge is closed. Please use the detour.
3rd Bridge is fully functional again.
Khwai/North Gate Bridge - has been temporarily repaired. Please don't speed over this or any other bridges in Moremi GR.
2nd and 4th Bridges will be repaired soon as well.
Below are few tips for new and old members.
Please read updates posted about the road conditions.
1. Once you leave the tar road at Shorobe deflate your tyres. The 18km to the Mawana Vet fence is very corrugated.
2. Wood is for sale at the Mawana Vet Fence prices ranges from BWP10 to BWP 80.
3. The 30km + from the turnoff after the Mawana Vet Fence towards South Gate is NOT in a good condition and will take you some time to reach South Gate.
4. South Gate:
There is a card machine at MGR Gate office and all park fees can be be paid using your credit/debit card. If you are paying cash only Pula is acceptable. NO foreign currency.
The DWNP Offices in Maun, are just behind the Police Station.
NB : DWNP OFFICES are open in Maun until 12hr on a Saturday and Sunday.
You can purchase meat, fruit and veggies in Maun.
You CAN transport meat, fruit and vegetables from Maun to Moremi through the vet fence.

Botswana investigates elephant deaths near Chobe National Park
The dead elephants were first found by conservation group Elephants Without Borders (EWB), which counted 57 carcasses by the end of October, mostly in an area adjacent to the wildlife-rich Chobe National Park.
The Department of Wildlife and National Parks said it could not yet establish the total number of deaths as officials had only flown over some of the coordinates provided by EWB.

Good afternoon lovely people…
Not to scare anyone but to Alert campers.Please be very careful on the campsites that are close to towns/villages & settlements. This could be any campsites inside or outsite the parks. My client’s vehicle was almost broken into by 2 young men (shown on the video). They tried to open both the canopy doors and the vehicle doors, damaging the driver key lock slot and the weatherstrip moulding seal. This happened in Khwai Northgate campsite 2 nights back….anyone who can identify these 2 men please inbox me.

Anm.: die Täter wurden erkannt und bereits verhaftet.
