I would like to ask you one last question please. I noticed that it takes just over 9 hours from Windhoek to Purros Lodge. You tell me that you would do this route in 3 days. Why? Maybe because you would like to visit the places along the route, or is it not possible to travel the road in 9 hours? I would like to leave Windhoek early in the morning and reach the Purros Lodge in the late afternoon. In your opinion is it possible to do this? Don't you think it's better to make time for hiking after reaching Purros?

It would be better for you and others on namibian roads, if you would not visit this country.
If you know the travel time to Purros is 9 hours, why do you ask?
9 hours for more than 800 kilometers, do you find the mistake?
For a better understanding: the last 100 kilometers to Purros will reduce your lifetime by about 3.5 to 4 hours.
Please go back a few posts and take R51's comment serious.

First thing to know about Namibia: Google Maps is not your friend.
Second thing to know about Namibia: the death toll on the roads is very very very high. Not only by locals but also by tourists.

To drive >800 km in 9 hours, you would need an average speed of app. 90 km/h. Most of the rental companies don't allow to go faster then 100km/h on tarred roads. And I would recommend it strongly. Very much traffic, heavy loads, which are hard to overtake, perhaps "wrong side" of the road (depends where you come from).

And after leaving the tarred road in Kamanjab, you can drive with a *maximum* speed of 60-80 km/h. for the remaining ~ 350 km.
You'll need app. 7 hours driving time (even longer perhaps in March, when some rain has damaged the road), for this stretch, but then you had not stopped for refueling, taking pictures, watching animals on the road or eating. I'm *not*talking about sightseeing on the route or visiting some places.

I'm going to Namibia this February for the 9th time and I'm going from Windoek to a campsite near Kamanjab on the first day. No need to rush, you're on holiday and not fleeing prison.

In other words: No, you can't drive in one day from Windhoek to Purros. It's way to far to drive. You can not compare the roads with motorways in Europe, where you could easily drive the 800km in 9 hours. It's impossible in this part of Namibia.

another hint to your reply:
Purros is a lions and elephant area. I would not recommend to take hiking tours through the Purros canyon for example. Best thing to do in Purros is getting a guide and drive around with him a little bit. Or taking one of the game drives provided by the lodge, where you will stay.
