Last, but not least habe ich im Kopf, es hätte mal jemand geschrieben, dass man ab Mbudi eine Mokoro-Tour machen kann. War das evtl. eure Truppe @ Bele?
Guten Morgen Robin,
Trip report: Khwai, Mbudi Campsite
We have just returned from an absolutely fantastic trip to the Khwai region of Botswana.
We entered at Martins Drift and drove via Nata Lodge, to arrive at the Mbudi Campsite in Khwai for 9 nights. This was our first time to this particular area.
I have seen many people ask for suggestions of campsites in the Khwai area- with Moghoto getting the most mentions. Having now been to the area, it is my view that Mbudi is the best. Wow!! Travelling with a group who have been overlanding since the early 90s - they all agreed that this was the most beautiful setting.
All campsites are situated along the Mbudi river with exquisite views. Each day was full of sightings in camp. Waking up to the noise of hippos and watching elephants come down for their afternoon drink. We were even lucky enough to have 12 lions visit our campsite during the day!
Staff are excellent, collecting rubbish each day. There are ablutions with hot water and flushing toilets! You can also go for a mokoro trip directly from your campsite.
Mbudi is for those that love peace and quiet. Close enough to the Moghoto area for more game viewing routes but a little off the beaten track. Water crossings are fine at this time of the year.
We will be back!
Campsites 3,4,5 are the best in our opinion with 3 being the biggest.
