Danke Euch für Eure kurzen Berichte. Wir werden Ende Juli dort sein und sind gespannt.

Lt. 4x4 dürfte es wieder einen Vorfall gegeben haben:

Just to all persons that may be booked into campsites at Ihaha please be careful. An incident happened on Friday night where they cut a tent and gained access @ 01h30 with the occupant in the tent and proceeded to take some valuables, the occupant screamed and they fled. If anybody does find camera cards holder which contained four memory cards as this may have been discarded in the area, please contact the writer.

Be very careful and vigilant when camping at Ihaha and make sure you lock all valuables in your car. We were robbed in the early hours of the 27th June 2019 whilst asleep in our ground tent (campsite 2). They slit open our tent with a knife/sharp object at ground level and stole two of my bags. We discovered the lost bags and hole in the tent early when we awoke and found a number of our belongings scattered around the campsite and at the adjacent campsite 1. Unfortunately they got away with a number of valuables including our passports!
We had heard a few noises throughout the night but we were all thinking they were hyenas, honey badgers etc and the last thing on our minds was that we were being robbed. Important that word gets out that you need to be very careful as you are a sitting duck at that campsite as it is very isolated and people have very easy access across the border. We were told there would be patrols during the night but when I asked if they had been done I was told that they decided to not patrol that night!

Curt Sagell: Die neue Wachgruppe waren nicht aufgetaucht für ihren Dienst. Da wird immer noch patrouilliert.
Dieses Jahr war keine Flut und sehr wenig Regen. Viele desperate Menschen. Da sind auch viele die von Sambia rüberkommen.
Wertsachen im Auto zuschliessen.

Klingt ja recht grauenhaft...Wir sind im Oktober im Ihaha gebucht (Dachzelt) und nun frage ich mich, wo ich die Wertsachen besser aufbewahre: im Fahrzeuginnern (Fahrerkabine), natürlich abgeschlossen und Schlüssel bei mir oben im Dach-Zelt / oder WErtsachen zu mir hoch ins Zelt nehmen? Brechen die auch verschlossene Fahrzeuge auf, wenn ich oben schlafe? Oder attackieren sie mich im Dachzelt, weil sie den Schlüssel und/oder Wertsachen wollen? Die letzten Berichte handelten immer von Bodenzelten....

Amanda Appelgryn We were 18 people 7 cars with caravans, and our first night at iHaha the 28th of June stand 3 we had intruders. Luckily the one guy in our group woke up. But they went through my things in our bathroom tent, did not get away with anything.

Neulah Mallinson Big groups don’t scare them off... we were part of the group where people got robbed recently and they came back a second time during our stay... we were 5 tents and 20 people. Disturbed them the first time (without realizing they were there), 2nd time we were more aware and jumped up quickly but they were gone ASAP. The patrols mean nothing and don’t even have spotlights to check around them as they patrol. Their vehicle is so noisy too, anyone can hear them coming from a mile away.

Wie soll man sich denn nun verhalten? Siehe meine vorigen Fragen? Umbuchen für Oktober würde vermutlich schwierig werden... und unsere Wertsachen können wir nicht in Luft auflösen... wertsachen im Auto einschliessen oder bei mir im Dachzelt ‚auf PERSON‘ tragen?

Wir haben schon mehrmals auf Ihaha übernachtet - ohne Besuch von menschlichen Dieben, nur von Pavianen 😠 . Aber das Wasser im Chobe stand hoch und Ranger fuhren tatsächlich damals häufig zur Kontrolle durchs Camp. Ich weiß nicht, ob ich im kommenden Oktober dort campen möchte. Du bist doch jetzt verunsichert, kannst vor Angst vermutlich nachts nicht schlafen. Falls die Umbuchung nicht gelingt, lass die Kosten sausen.

Wie sicher nachfolgende Fakes sind, weiß ich nicht, aber
- Tresor wie von Logi beschrieben,
- 1 - 2 Geldbeutel mit geringen Beträgen sowie veralteten Kreditkarten
- klotzige billige oder defekte Armbanduhr
- alten billigen Fotoapparat oder ein Handy
- falschen Autoschlüssel
parat haben, um die Gegenstände auszuhändigen. Immerhin kommen die Räuber bei Nacht und haben es eilig.

Entscheide in Ruhe!

We just returned from a fantastic trip.
Entered at Martinsdrift, then went to Baines Baobabs, Guma Lagoon, then into the Caprivi strip.
We entered Bots again at Ngoma and then camped at Ihaha.
We heard that there were issues with "visitors at knight" at Ihaha in the past, so we went prepared.
Then unfortunately we had a visitor on our second knight there.
After he tripped our alarms I saw him ran off from our tents.
It was almost full moon, so the visibility was very good.
This experience was not verry comforting.
We reported it to the patrolling Police who then asked us to report it to the reception.
So please be aware.
I dont know what his intensions were, but I am glad he desided to leave.
It's very sad to say, but I will not visit Ihaha again.

Aus den Anworten ist zu lesen, dass sich dieser Vorfall am 7. Jänner um 23:00 auf cs 1 ereignet hat;
und dass es im Aug 2019 auch zu einem Überfall gekommen sei:

We were there for 2 nights in August ‘19. Our neighbors (friends from Canada on a photographic safari) were robbed of nearly R600 000 of equipment, cash passports etc. They rented a 4x4 lockable vehicle with no alarm. This is such a nice camp, but with the thieves taking all the stolen stuff over to Namibia... one doubt if it will stop.

Guten Morgen,

gibt es eine Alternative, die ihr zu Ihaha empfehlen könnt?
Wir übernachten auf der Savuti Campsite, [dann eine Nacht Ilaha] und dann Kasane.

Ich habe die Ihaha Campsite angefragt (bisher noch keine Antwort erhalten), bin jetzt aber nach Lesen des Threads verunsichert. Wenn es eine schöne und sicherere Alternative gibt, würde ich diese vorziehen.

Wir waren vor 3 Wochen für 2 Nächte in Ihaha, keine Probleme und einfach ein sehr schöner Platz .

Wenn du nicht in Ihaha übernachten willst, bleiben nur noch Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten ausserhalb des Parks. Entweder im Osten in Kasane oder im Westen. Dort ist Muchenje das Nächste. Mwandi View ist schon wieder etwas weiter weg.
