29 Oct 2014. Research Permission. The Desert Lion Project has now received official approval from the Ministry of Environment & Tourism to continue with the research project. An open line of communications has been established and we feel that the process will lead to a beneficial collaboration in the future. The Floodplain lionesses are still with the “Five Musketeers” and several successful hunts on Oryx were observed during the past weeks.

Hallo Cruiser. Weiss man inzwischen ob das Geronimo war?.Und was ist mit XPL 70 passiert? Wurde sie erschossen? Bei den Lion Movements auf der Dersert Lion Webseite ist auch das Agab Rudel mit Monika nicht mehr. Gibts die auch nicht mehr?

scheinbar wird grad ein Film über das Desert Lion Projekt gedreht. Wie ich rauslese ist auch ORF und Arte daran beteiligt. Freu mich schon wenn das mal im TV läuft. Macht das Projekt vielleicht bei uns populärer.

Kommt der Film ins Fernsehen oder Kino? Bitte unbedingt ankündigen, wenn es so weit ist!

Ja, im Film-Trailer sind ja schon einmal ein paar sehr interessante Ausschnitte zu sehen. Ich hoffe nur, dass wir den Film auch in Deutschland zu sehen bekommen. Kannst du uns darüber hier weiter auf dem Laufenden halten?

Werde Euch informieren. Mann rechnet mit mitte nächsten Jahres!

Mein Vorschlag, da hier vielleicht nicht so viele reinschauen (Thread bezieht sich ja ursprünglich auf die Spendenaktion), und der Link zum Trailer auch ein bisschen unscheinbar daher kommt: Cruiser, magst du nicht einen neuen Thread aufmachen und den Link dort reinstellen (ich will's nicht machen, weil das ja ursprünglich deine Info ist....) ? Ich fände es schade, wenn das nur einige sehen !

Frage: kann ich den Link auf facebook posten oder gibt es da irgendwelche rechtlichen Probleme?

Das Video wurde von der Produktionsfirma Interspot über die Plattform Vimeo öffentlich im Internet verfügbar gemacht. Die von der Plattform Vimeo angebotene Option, dass Einbetten in fremde Seiten zu verhindern, wurde nicht aktiviert. Und deshalb darfst du das ganz beruhigt und legal auf Facebook und anderswo teilen. Haben x andere auch schon gemacht.

Ansonsten: Ja besser mal einen neuen Thread aufmachen. Mit dem Thema hier hat das direkt nichts mehr zu tun.
Nebenbei: Obwohl das Video auf Facebook auch von diversen Organisationen und Magazinen mit vielen tausend Followern geteilt wurde, hatte es in fast 2 Monaten gerade mal 876 Aufrufe. Irgendwie ernüchternd.

The unique desert-adapted lions of the northwest will do Namibians proud in the latest high definition wildlife documentary aimed at the global market.

After spending nearly two years in the ancient Namib Desert, acclaimed wildlife filmmakers Will and Lianne Steenkamp bring an extraordinary documentary about the rarely seen desert-adapted lions of Namibia. It is an intimate story following the survival of a special pride of lions along the Skeleton Coast of the Namib Desert.

“Its a great privilege to have been granted the opportunity by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism and the Namibian Film Commission to feature the extraordinary desert-adapted lions of Namibia in our latest wildlife film,” say the Steenkamps, “We were able to capture a beautiful and in-depth story about the every day struggles of a pride that plays a crucial role in the fortitude of their population - an old lioness and her two daughters with the treacherous task of bringing up their five adolescent sons. We followed the five young male lions, known as the “Five Musketeers”, on their journey to adulthood. Its about the power of a pride, about family bonds, adventure and survival in one of the harshest places on Earth.”

It is yet another magnificent portray of Namibia’s wild wonders, in an hour-long film produced for the international market. “Our primary broadcast partners include ORF from Austria, the Smithsonian Channel in the USA and ARTE in Germany and France. National Geographic International will also be getting involved for the rest of the world broadcast territories”.

The desert lions form a small population in Namibia’s Kunene region. Human-Lion Conflict often makes the news headlines, whilst the Government, the local communities and the conservation bodies all work tirelessly to find a way for co-existence. In this documentary the filmmakers acknowledge these inevitable struggles, but they bring a unique and intimate story about what it takes to survive as a true desert-adapted lion.

The film has been translated into three languages, including English, German and remarkably, Damara. “The main aim with our films is to raise awareness, but more so to instil an appreciation for our natural world. Namibians are so fortunate to have such a unique and special kind of lion right on their doorstep but many children never get to see these remarkable animals,” say the filmmakers. “The Damara translation of the film is another way of trying to reach these audiences. We realize that it is hard for the local people to co-exist with lions and that Human-Lion Conflict is an inevitable challenge. With this film we hope not only to showcase the incredible natural wonders that Namibia is enriched with, but also to inform and educate Namibians about one of their very own natural treasures.”

The filmmakers will be presenting the film to all Namibians at several special launch screenings. The first will be an official Premiere at the Warehouse Theatre on the 17th of July 2015. Dignitaries, conservation leaders, and nature enthusiasts will gather for a proudly Namibian “premiere” when the film will be screened for the very first time.

Schaut mal auf www.africatrophyhunting.com, Thormählen & Cochran, unter packages. Dort wird für 2016 zur Jagd angeboten: Desertlion, Desertelephant usw. . Wen wollen die jagen? Das einzige verbliebene erwachsene Männchen? Kebbel?. Verstehe nicht wie die an ein Permit kommen. Komisch auch dass die einzigen Löwen die zum jagen angeboten werden ausgerechnet Desertlions sind.
