Robbers make son watch rape
Pretoria - A robber raped a woman in front of her six-year-old son shortly after midnight in her home in Pebble Rock Estate in Leeufontein, northeast of Pretoria.
Two other robbers held her bound husband and their five-year-old daughter in the bathroom of the main bedroom.
The family, who were making plans to emigrate to Australia, were attacked in their bedroom.

A year? Try two to three years. One never stops looking over one's shoulder, checking the doors and windows and watching people as they approach you when you are offloading the shopping.
It's freaking unnatural. There's absolutely no need to do it but after 10-15 years of living like hunted animals, it takes a long time to change ones habits.

It’s taken us two years to wind down. The biggest initial problem was trying to sleep/relax without having burglar guards, security gates and dogs.
Only now I can honestly say that we sleep okay.
But the odd nightmare still raises its ugly head once in a while.
It took us a whole year to refrain from locking our car doors before driving anywhere,
allowing my wife to go to the café at 8 o’clock at night by herself
I thought all the local females here that go jogging at six in the morning or eight at night were nuts,
but nothing happens to them, its normal.
My kid is rarely at home, she is out playing in the park on her bicycle or building a fort in the forest.
The only time we see her and friends is when they’re hungry or thirsty.
This is how normal society lives, something that takes a lot of getting used to, and we are relishing it.

Ich habe die obigen Links und Zitate zusammengestellt, damit deutlich wird, dass, aus welchem Grund auch immer die südafrikanische Gesellschaft derartig gewalttätig ist, es nicht eine Kriminalität nach Art und Umfang ist, wie man sie zur jetzigen Zeit auch in Hamburg, Zürich oder Wien erleben könnte.
Ein Foriker, der sein Geld im Tourismus verdient, hat schon zweimal im Zusammenhang mit Namibia dezent darauf hingewiesen, dass es ja nicht von ungefähr geschieht, dass Menschen ihre Grundstücke mit Elektrozaun und Stacheldraht und alle ihre Fenster mit fingerstarken Gittern sichern.
Vor einem Jahr gab es auf arte einmal eine Geo-360°-Reportage, die den Alltag einer Familie mit Kindern schilderte, die im Großraum Johannesburg wohnt.
