Gretsky, XPL 99, the iconic Huabriver male, who sired and established the Ugab Pride has been shot and killed by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism last night at De Rust farm in Ugabriver. On Monday evening he entered a kraal and killed about 25 goats and sheep at de Rust. This was the first known conflict incident he was involved in and is in his prime and resident pride male of 3 females in the Huabriver. The only male left now in Ugab/Huab is Nkosi, XPL 110, 4,7 years old. It seems that despite all the plans published with great fanfare the only solution according to the Ministry remains to simply shoot these rare iconic “ protected” animals!
One wonders what the corporate donors and Lion Recovery Funds will think of this! Not to mention the tourists!!!
Scandalous and a downright shame!!!

Hallo Fomis, gebt doch eine schlechte Bewertung beim MET zu der Aktion ab. Das haben schon viele gemacht und führt vielleicht zu etwas, wenn die Touristen dich beschweren?
