Aktuelle Lage bei der Wasserversorgung Windhuk

Guten Tag allerseits,

in der AZ wurde im letzten Jahr immer wieder über die geringen Füllstände der Staudamme, die der Wasserversorgung von Windhuk dienen, geschrieben. Schon längere Zeit habe ich nichts mehr dazu erfahren. Kann mir jemand einen Hinweis geben, wie man die aktuelle Lage in Erfahrung bringen kann bzw. kennt jemand die Füllstände?

Gott sei Dank hat es in den letzten Monaten viel Niederschläge gegeben.
Bis auf wenige Regionen sind die Dämme wieder gut gefüllt.
Windhoek ist im Moment mit Wasser sehr gut aufgestellt.

Windhoek hat wieder mehr als ausreichend Wasser.

Kapstadt hat nur noch für ca. 70 Tage Wasser, wo seit vergangener Woche selbst das periodische Bewässern mit Eimern bei horrenden Strafen untersagt ist.

Die Wassersparmassnahmen gelten auch weiterhin.

WATER USAGE UPDATE IN THE CITY
With the rainy season rapidly drawing to a close, it is important to update our residents and visitors to Windhoek on the ongoing water scarcity in the city. Water savings for the year since mid-January (when most people are considered to have returned from holiday) averages 27% based on long term demand.
This is not ideal and it would seem that many people have the perception that the water shortage has been dispensed with as a result of the recent rain. Although the immediate crisis has been averted the impact of the ongoing water shortage in the supply system has only been delayed. The reality is that Windhoek (and others sharing the supply system of NamWater) is still drawing more water from the system than can sustainably be supplied. With the growing demand the gap between available supply and demand will continue to widen relentlessly thereby severely increasing the likelihood of another failure of the system in the near future. Thus the public is urged to continue saving water and respect all water saving measures.
During the water crisis the City of Windhoek proactively pursued the further development of the Windhoek Aquifer in order to augment dwindling supply volumes from NamWater due to the drought. This timely intervention has paid off in quenching the City’s thirst, and as such is a testimony of the commitment and dedication of the CoW towards its esteemed residents.
We all know that the region’s water woes are compounded by the city’s fast pace of urbanization and its arid geographical terrain, and we urge the public to continue to heed the call to save water We should all be mindful of our own contribution to the water demand and continue to change our habits and attitude in order to adopt ways that will help us eliminate water wastages.

Da sieht man, dass sowohl der Swakopport als auch der Von Bach Damm noch nicht annähernd einen Füllstand haben, bei dem man sich erleichtert zurücklehnen könnte.

die Wassersparmaßnahmen in Windhoek bleiben ohne Lockerung weiterhin in Kraft (wie WoMa sehr richtig schreibt). Seit 2011 verbraucht die Stadt mehr Wasser als es gibt, deshalb gibt es - trotz Füllständen in den Stauseen von 50+ % - keine Entwarnung. Die Stadt will die Wassersparmaßnahmen erst wieder lockern, wenn die Wasserversorgung durch Oberflächenwasser (!) für 2 Jahre, d.h. eine Dürre-"Regen"zeit ausreicht.

Hitradio Namibia hat gestern Abend gerade eine Meldung:
"Die Stauseen im zentralen Namibia haben in der vergangenen Woche guten Zukauf erhalten. So hat der Füllstand des Swakoppoort von 38,6 auf 51,2 Prozent zugenommen. Auch der Omatako-Damm erhielt mit mehr als 1,5 Millionen Kubikmeter starken Zufluss und ist nun zu 57,3 Prozent gefüllt. Der Füllstand des Von-Bach-Damms hat ebenfalls leicht zugenommen. Im Osten des Landes sind die Stauseen zu 17 Prozent und im Süden zu knapp 75 Prozent gefüllt."
