New information from Divindu is that the car shot up was a Namibian couple in their Toyota Fortuner who had entered Bwabata Park via the old 32 Batallion base road and then had ignored instructions from an anti-poaching unit (my guess is NDF because of the nearby NDF base) to stop.
The anti-poaching unit them opened fire on the car, riddling the car with bullets and one bullet passing through the baby-seat in the back. The mother and child were hurt by flying glass and are now being airlifted to Windhoek for further treatment.
Charges of attempted murder have been laid with the Divindu Police.
A source said that "a very aggressive" NDF poaching unit, only one member of whom was in uniform, recently accosted an employee from a local lodge in the same area as he was checking out alternative routes to their lodge.
Poor training and lack of discipline seem to be the main culprits here.
Remind me again what exactly we are spending N$5 billion on the army for this year?
