Moremi - Savuti JETZT!

Ortschaft Khwai zur Zeit noch erreichbar via Brücke von North Gate kommend. Weiterfahrt hinter Khwai Village Richtung Savuti seit 2 Wochen nicht mehr möglich, außer guter Schnorchel, hohe Batterie und kräftiges Fahrzeug. Bis mindestens November muß sicher der Weg via South Gate- Mababe genutzt werden, um Savuti zu erreichen.

Hallo liebe Fomis,

wir fliegen in gut 2 Wochen und planen die "normale" direkte Route Maun - Savuti, dann weiter nach Linyanti und schließlich zum Senyanti Camp. Welche Strecke könnt ihr aktuell empfehlen bzw. gibt es Abschnitte, die hier nicht befahrbar sind? Unsere 4x4-Erfahrung hält sich in Grenzen - Profis sind wir definitiv nicht.

Hallo Engelchen,

wenn ihr nicht über Khwai fahrt (und das liegt ja nicht auf der Route) solltet ihr keine Probleme haben, vielleicht nur vorher am Mababe Gate nachfragen ob die Marsh Road befahrbar ist und falls nicht halt auf die Sand Road ausweichen.

Just received news from customers that they did the direct route (May 16) from Mababe Gate to North Gate...
Take care and always check with the Rangers!

Update May 19 & 20:

We were able to do the direct route from Mababe to North Gate (transit road) and from North Gate, via Xakanaxa to Third Bridge as the video shows.
To be more specific: When coming from Savuti you first cross a bridge and then after approx. 1 km you encounter a watercrossing. Don't try to attempt a direct crossing here! There's a tracks going to the left that you have to follow. At the end of this track there is a do-able crossing. Again don't do the direct route but do the loop round 3 'bushes'.

Thanks Hans for the video.
It shows crossings very common in Moremi area. Water crossings like this should be no poblem for a driver who decide to drive there. As you can see at the sides of the car: The ground in this crossings must be very good. It is much more difficult if this is a muddy area.

So - sind wieder zurueck von unserer Tour durch Botswana. Third Bridge - Savute ueber South Gate ohne Problem in 8 Stunden machbar (hatten zwar nen Platten). Marsh-Road wurde uns vom Ranger abgeraten. Auch in Moremi keine grossen Problem mit dem Wasserstand. Strecke Northgate - Savute ist im Moment noch machbar, haben es aber nicht probiert.
