Nur zur Info:
Dear Notugre Member

Please be advised that there has been a Foot and Mouth outbreak in Ghanzi, which is where 90% of Botswana's export beef comes from. All borders and vet fences have been closed to both the export and import of all red meat, other than cooked or tinned meat. No movement may take place across the vet fences either, which means that Notugre may not get meat from Bobonong or Phikwe. All abattoirs have been closed, so even if members could get meat across the vet fences there is unlikely to be a local supply.

Poultry, ostrich, venison (shot internally), cooked and tinned meats are allowed.

Pete le Roux is still trying to find out about dairy products, but feels that long life milk and packaged cheeses will be OK.

Please cooperate and do not try and smuggle meat into the country. If you are caught, not only will you have your meat confiscated, but it will also cause all operators in the area to lose credibility and make things more difficult for all of us in future.

Please also be advised that the new levy on alcohol comes into effect today.

30% import duty on all alcoholic beverages.

Thanks

Kind Regards
