We are aware of the condition of the following roads:
a) D 2612 from MR 76 to MR 126, road from Khorixas to Bergsig.
b) D 3254 to Burnt Mountain
c) D 3214 to Twyfelfontein
The blading frequency of these roads was increased from 1.5 times a month to 3 times a month, however the blading frequencies cannot be increased anymore. The roads need re-shaping and re-gravelling. Sections on D 2612 were done by heavy blading: All redundant material was removed from the road shoulders. Fresh material was taken from the road shoulder and bladed onto the existing wearing coarse. This action improved the wearing coarse to some extent and also improved the riding quality.
These roads will be reshaped by the Road Betterment Unit within the next few months and will be re-graveled under the 5-year business plan of the Region.
MR 126 from Khorixas to Bergsig was re-graveled between August 2017 and September 2018. A total of 90 km very re-graveled.
The next road to be re-graveled under the current re-gravelling program is MR 64 from Uis to Omaruru.
