Cederberg - welche Campsite gefällt Euch?

Hallo zusammen,

zwei Nächte wollen wir - kommend vom Fish River Canyon - in der Cederberg Region verbringen. Unterwegs sind wir mit einem 4x4 inkl. Dachzelt.

Welche Campsite gefällt Euch am besten?

Die Zeit in der Cederberg Region wollen wir ganz der Natur und vor allem Landschaft widmen. Große Wanderungen fallem demnach aus.

Hallo Tobi,
wir hatten im November 2013 für zwei Nächte ein Ferienhaus auf Mont Ceder und es hat uns dort gut gefallen. Da wir keine weiteren Unterkünfte dort kennen war es also die "Beste" (für uns). 😉

Hallo Reinhard,danke für Deinen Tipp. Mount Ceder und die Gegend sieht wirklich klasse aus.

@ Hans: Ebenfalls danke, aktuell tendieren wir zu Algeria; auch da dieses recht nah an der N7 liegt. Aus welchem Grund kannst Du die Campsite empfehlen?

@ Cruiser: Die Karte kenne ich bereits, so sind wir auf Sanddrif als Alternative gekommen, trotzdem danke für den Link. Kannst Du eine Campsite besonders empfehlen?

@ Christian: Ne Alternative auf die ich bisher nicht gestoßen bin 🙂 *danke*

Algeria ist einer meiner Favoriten! Wandern, Swimming in the river und great scenery!

Hallo Tobi,

Wie Christian auch geschrieben hat ist die Enjo Nature Farm (soulcountry) wunderschön, wir waren im Oktober vier Nächte da und würden jederzeit sofort wieder dort hin.

@ Christian: Die Farm wird nur noch von Andrea geführt, Moritz ist im Oktober bei einem flugzeugabsturz verunglückt, ich hoffe, sie gibt die Farm nicht auf!

BTW, Algeria wird erweitert um 6 Cottages und 20 Standplätze.

Ich habe damals bei Matjiesrivier gecampt aber die bieten das nicht mehr an wegen dem Cape Leopard Trust der jetzt dort stationiert ist!

Eine sehr empfehlenswerter Trail ist von Mount Ceder nach Wuppertal, man kommt durch Eselbank Village, wo man frisch gebackenes Brot kaufen kann!

Den Pass runter nach Wuppertal ist kein Problem, aber hoch sollte man nur mit 4x4, obwohl ich auch schon andere Fahrzeuge dort gesehen habe!

Driehoek & Sanddrift are the big ones- close to the good wines of Cederberg Wine Farm.
If you like climbing, there's a few farms around Rocklands offering accommodation. Don't know if the Kliphuis campsite has been re-opened in the North close to Leipoldt's grave but there are some fantastic day hikes in the area.
Also remember Boegoeberg campsite and 4 x 4 trail to the east of the Cederberg- http://www.boegoeberg4x4.co.za/.
We've stayed there and it had great facilities and a beautiful farm dam to swim in.

Mount Cedar has 3 new camp sites. could be hot in summer. Separate kitchen and ablutions for each one. Trees still small, but there is some shade cloth.

Und diese Info von einem sehr guten Freund, Jurie, mit dem ich auch ab und zu mal durch NAM toure, jetzt wieder im kommenden April, und welcher mich auch in die Cederberge gebracht hat:

The Cedarberg has always been one of my favourite destinations, started going there 40 years ago and must have been there more than a hundred times, can't get enough of the place.

Algeria is good, but they are building new chalets there and the place is still somewhat barren after a huge fire a few years ago. It also tends to get very crowded.

Kromrivier was our favourite place for many years, but now it is very neglected.

Sanddrif (part of Dwarsrivier ) is excellent but it is big and very busy.

I visited Driehoek ( http://www.cederberg-accommodation.co.za/ ) with LCCSA two years ago and now it is my favourite. We spent 10 days there in Nov 2013, the place is excellently run, the facilities superb and there is plenty of shade and grass. It is in the heart of the Cedarberg and you are close to Dwarsrivier to try their wines (Driehoek also produce wine ), and very close to the start of walks to Maltese Cross, Wolfberg "skeur", Welbedacht and a short drive to Stadsaal Caves and Truitjieskraal.

Mount Cedar is further towards Op-die -Berg and for me it does not have the appeal as the scenery found with the places mentioned above.

There also are cottages to rent in the Rooi Cedarberg area (between Matjiesrivier and the Tankwa Karoo), this is a very remote area and I have not stayed here yet, but the website pictures look good:
