Hallo zusammen,
die Association of Service Station Owners hat gerade folgende Klarstellung zur Zahlung mit Kredit-/Debitkarten versendet. Hier einige wichtige Auszüge:
The Ministry of Mines and Energy, as the Regulatory Authority in charge of Retail Fuel, has made the following pronouncements on this matter: the Banking costs involved in Credit and Debit card transactions will not be included in the Retail Margin (i.e. Service Station Owners will not be compensated through their Margin for these costs and will therefore be required to pay it out of their own pockets).
MME therefore resolved that fuel should be paid for in cash and that it is the choice of every service station owner to decide whether it will accept Debit and Credit Cards. It is MME’s resolution that the Banking Industry should come up with an appropriate solution which will not result in the Service Station Owner incurring the cost of these transactions.
The Retail Fuel Dealers will therefore have freedom of choice of accepting Credit/Debit cards and they will not be obliged by anybody including the Financial Institutions and their Oil Companies to accept such cards.
For the reasons provided above, ASSO wants to clarify that only cash is acceptable payment for Fuel at Service stations unless the BoN grants a further extension on the use of Petrol and Garage cards and/or the Commercial Banks of Namibia come up with a suitable replacement for Petrol and Garage cards.
Mit anderen Worten: Die Zahlung von Treibstoff in Namibia bleibt zu 99,9 % ein Cashbusiness.
Viele Grüße
Christian
