Hallo zusammen,
Viel Spass!
Lieben Gruss Danni

Reisebericht:
I will only write about places we liked most. It would be way to much to write about everything.
Our first night we spent in Windhoek Game Camp. The place was wonderful. Very nice owners who gave us a warm welcome and the luxury tent chalet was awesome. Very comfy beds with heating blankets (already turned on by the owner because we arrived late).....we had a very good sleep. In the morning we had a special surprise when Koppie (a tame giraffe bull) sticked his head into our patio.
He is so cute. We could cuddle him and we took lots of pics of course. ☺ I think over 300 hundred actually
To be that close to a giraffe was very special for us. Moments we will never forget.
We loved Mavunje Camp. There are only two sites. No. 1 is awesome! This place was fantastic. The english guy who build it up and is offering boat safaris on the Kwando River is very nice. We did 2 boat trips with him and enjoyed them a lot. We saw so many elephants and had very close encounters with them. A big herd crossed the river right in front of our boat. Dan said he only saw this 3 times in the years he is doing the boat trips. We were so lucky and over the moon! : -)
We also loved Mudumu Ntl. Park. Campsite No. 3!!!! is the perfect spot. It’s in the middle of nowhere and the next campsite is over a km away. There is only quietness and the sounds of the animals. We saw elephants at the river and heard lions roaring during the night not far from our car. It was fantastic. We enjoyed every minute there and wanted to stay there forever!
Senyati was also great. We had chalet No. 1 for 3 nights. The chalet was right in front of a waterhole where the elephant herds come to drink. During the day hundreds of them will come. When you sit there on your patio or at the BBQ they will pass by very close. We sometimes had to move because we thought it was too close. At the last evening also a herd of 200-300 buffalos came along. It was so impressive and the owner told us that it doesn’t happen very often. So we were lucky again. ☺
Ihaha in Chobe was a very nice spot too. We loved the entire Chobe Riverfront. It wasn’t busy with people as we thought it would be but it was packed with animals! We saw lots of them and had great encounters. We finally spoted a pride of lions close to the camp we were heading for. Our first opportunity to watch them very close. It was awesome. We stayed there for two hours then we had to leave because the sun went down.
We didn’t make it to Linyanti in time because we got stuck several times on our way out of Chobe and went to Savuti first. We didn’t like Savuti at all. It was to big, to busy, to noisy (generator) and we didn’t get a nice campspot. Next day we went straight to Linyanthi and were happy we could stay there for 2 nights instead for only one as we had initially planned. Linyanthi was wonderful. Elephants came so close to our campsite it wasn’t even necessary to drive around. We had plenty of action on the spot.
Our neighbors had to sit in the car for over one hour because the elephants were eating next to their car and tent. We enjoyed sitting in our chairs and watching them only a few meters away. During the night I woke up by a eating noise and the elephant head was only meters away from our tent whilst he was eating leaves from a tree. So cool! Linyanthi is still an insiders place and well worth going. It’s quite a dertour and difficult drive but we would go back there for sure!
Xakanaxa - Campsite 4 was brilliant. We stayed there for 2 nights and loved it. Campsites are big and we only had neighbors for one night. We enjoyed very quite evenings at the fire and could hear the lions during the night. A hyena tried to steal our dutch oven and when Wouter chased her away she took off with the pot but luckily droped it after a few meters. This was when a hippo emerged close by and we realised that one really has to be careful and always watch the surroundings. More people get killed by hippos than lions in Africa. It is one of the most dangerous animals even though you might not realise it. Hyenas visited our camp regulary when we sat at the fire. They are pretty timid but still come very close when they try to steal some food leftovers. At 3rd bridge I had one next to my chair!
Legendary 3rd bridge was nice but also too busy although we had nice animal encounters during the evening. We went quite early to bed because animals were coming very close. Including a hippo which was actually crossing our spot right after we went up to our tent. Also several hyenas and elephants of course. Close to 3rd bridge we also found a very good looking male lion. We spoted him next to the road. He was so close and it was amazing to observe him as he was sticking out his belly whilst rolling on the ground....we watched him for hours and only left because the sun went down and we had to go back. It was very special and we were so happy we found him.
In Maun we spent two nights at Island Safari Lodge Camping and went for a day trip to the Okavango Delta (Chiefs Island) which was fantastic! We went by private boat again and loved it a lot The Delta is so special, so unique! It’s incredible what nature created.
