Wir nehmen Morgen die Fähre nach Mlibizi und können dann berichten…hier aktuelle Infos die wir bekommen haben
What is required and expected of you for your ferry trip
Loading in Kariba is at our harbour site located at Andora Harbour West and from the ferry loading point at Mlibizi (you cannot get lost in Mlibizi) which commences from 09.30 and departure is 10.30. This may vary on the day if we have difficulties in loading certain vehicles and is also subject to variations due to adverse weather conditions. If all vehicles and passengers are loaded earlier than the prescribed time the ferry will depart early thereby maximizing daylight time aboard and countering any time lost due to adverse weather that we may encounter during the voyage.
As a rule, generally, the voyage lasts 22 hours and your arrival time will be approximately 08.00 the next day
Vehicles under 2 metres in height, including those that have been advised that it will be necessary to remove a roof rack or roof top tent will be loaded first. Vehicles over 2 metres but not exceeding 2.5 metres will be next and vehicles over 2.5 metres in height are the last to be loaded. Please assist us by trying to arrange your vehicle in the queue accordingly. Rushing to be at the head of the line serves no purpose
National Parks fees are payable by the passenger and are generally collected by Parks at Mlibizi. You may go to the Parks and Wildlife offices in Kariba to prepay your fees thereby reducing delays on disembarking at Mlibizi, because they will stop you on your way out to collect fees from you. Likewise, those that embark from Mlibizi may visit the Parks office the day before to reduce delays on the day
If you require assistance to remove a roof rack or roof top tent, please advise a member of staff as soon as you are able
We ask that you prepare an overnight bag with your requirements for the voyage. Access to vehicles is limited and may be impossible in the instance of full a load of vehicles. Speak to your host should you wish to retrieve a forgotten item from your vehicle during the voyage. Your bag should include your personal requirements such as wash bag etc. A towel is essential for bathing and for those who wish to take the opportunity of a swim when the ferry does a short stop in the late afternoon, for checking of the vessel and machinery to ensure that all is in order for the overnight part of the voyage. Cameras, binoculars etc. if you have.
We provide light travel rugs and pillows for overnight. If you have preference for your own items, you are welcome to bring those on deck. Your accommodation is communal in the lounge in purpose made chairs that lay flat to make a bed. Some prefer to take one of the extra mattresses available and sleep on the deck under the stars or even on the floor in the lounge.
Your passenger fare is quoted on a full board basis so there is no need to take food on deck. It is permitted to bring your own crisps etc. should you so wish, however there is a supply of these items aboard, available from the bar.
The ferry is a licenced premises and for this reason we do not allow personal supplies of drinks on deck. If you have a special tipple that we are unable to satisfy please speak to the host and obtain permission to consume your own however please be advised that there will be a “corkage fee” levied
