Hallo zusammen,

es gibt Neuigkeiten aus dem Hwange. Godfrey hat wieder ein Update geschickt:

The dam is 3/4 full and still pumped by 2 solar powered boreholes during the day and 1 battrey operated at night.
Game activity is very good with large herds of Elephant coming from mid morning and drinking all night and sometimes swimming during the day .
Buffalo are also coming and the herds are getting bigger and have been coming nearly every 2days.

Lion activity is also very good and there are still favouring their spot around the bridge on the way to Shumba,there are also doing much of their hunts around the dam .this other day they had a stand off with a buffalo herd for the whole night ,the lions had made a circle around the buffalo and everytime the ones on the sides pushed closer to the buffalo ,the buffalo would charge at the ones in front of them and the lions would back off and it happened for the whole night with buffalo all staying close together.in the morning the Lions gave up and went to sleep by the brigde and spent the whole day there .

Oneday we were watching baboons near the water and one adult started chasing a little one very aggresively and the young one was screaming and ran to the wooly caperbush tree on the edge of the dam on the western side ,with the big one in hot pursuit the young one then climbed upto the top on the little branches and the big one continued with the chase and by the time it got to it the branch gave up and it fell into the water and the moment it fell into the water the croc got it and it tried holding onto the branches whilst the croc was trying to take it under water and its screams attracted the hippo which came and chased the croc away and tried to also get the babbon but failed as the babbon was now in between the branches but still in water with a lot of blood coming out ,the croc came back and pulled the baboon out and drag into deep into the water were it drowned and other crocs joined in and the moment they did death roll with some getting some of their share ,the hippos took over the kill and swam with it to their corner.and within a few minutes the crocs stole the carcass again and they quickly ate it all .

Last week during full moon there was did our monthly game count in which we counted nearly a 1000 elephant and we had 5 leopard and lots of kudu,lmpala and warthogs in 24hours ,the leopards came from 11 pm upto 3am and there was with a cub

Roads are still accesible and road grading hasnt begun yet .

Tourists
The park is quite with a few touriats around and now even the private camps are not busy and there are very few cars driving around .

Leider hat mein Mietwagen nur vorne und hinten je 2 Reflektoren und 2 Warndreieck
Feuerlöscher und weiteres habe ich nicht wird aber vorgeschrieben und ggf kontrolliert?

Gab es in hangwe buschbrände ?
Und wie weit ist es von der Grenze in den Park?

Freue mich auf eure kurzfristige Rückmeldung, da ich morgen los fahre.

Bin über khwai und savuti nach kasane gefahren. Was für ein Ritt durch tiefen Sand

Werde hwange im nächsten Jahr auf meine Liste nehmen.

Sonderfall Robin‘s Camp. Hier kostet der Parkeintritt 20 USD p.P.
Es wird damit begründet, das Robin‘s ein Privatcamp ist. Eher krude aber nunja

die diversen Picnic-Spots: 29 USD p.P. als Walk-In inkl. der Warden-Leistungen.

Macht nach der unverschämten Preiserhöhung in BOTS aktuell etwa 1/3 bis max 1/2 der auflaufenden Kosten für BOTS.

Vor wenigen Tagen gab es neue Buschbrände zwischen Robin‘s und Deteema. Der Bereich ab Sinamatella war bereits vorher betroffen. Der Park ist einigermassen leer - es gab höheres Aufkommen aufgrund des Gamecount. Die letzten, die noch etwas geblieben sind, sollten bis heute abreisen. Danach sind auch die Picnic-Spots wieder gut verfügbar. ZIM ist wie immer eine (ausgedehnte) Reise wert.

Allgemeine Infos:
Diesel aktuell in Bulawayo 1.67 USD und überall verfügbar.
Lebensmittel absolut alles im Angebot was das Herz begehrt.
Wir haben bisher fast alles mit KK bezahlt. Im Hwange überall möglich, in Bulawayo bis auf die Tankstelle ebenso. Keine Extragebühren oder irgendwelche Haken. Ich erwähne das, weil im Internet viel Blödsinn geschrieben wird.

PS: In Sinamatella wurden die Braai-Spots neu gemacht und die Ablutions „sanft“ renoviert. Das bedeutet, dass jemand alles neu angepinselt hat, inkl. Türklinken
Keinen Bären aufbinden lassen - Sinamatella ist immer noch eher für Hartgesottene zu empfehlen. Allerdings ist der Ausblick eben phantastisch und wenn du Glück hast bist du auf der Ebene ganz alleine.

da wir in 4 Wochen ebenfalls einige Tage im Hwange (ohne Verbuchung) unterwegs sein wollen, hatte ich Robins Camp angeschrieben, um zu erfragen, ob Bezahlen mit KK möglich ist. Die Antwort kam umgehend und bestätigt Guidos Information: Bezahlen mit Kreditkarte möglich.
