My third book on Namibia is now a reality.

It covers the vast (214 000km²) North-eastern part of Namibia and includes the areas known as Hereroland, Bushmanland, the Khaudum and the Caprivi. It is the most complete and comprehensive guide to the area available at present.

Just like my previous books on the Kaokoland and Damaraland regions, it contains all the information that a prospective visitor needs to make informed choices when planning a tour through the area. It also contains photographs of, and useful information on, the fauna and flora likely to be encountered in the area, the geology, places of interest, etc. I have personally driven, logged and photographed every road and track that I could find in the area and 16 800km worth of roads and tracks are listed and described in the book. It also contains chapters on preperation for a visit to the area, navigation, dealing with emergencies, route planning and do’s and don’ts.

Some details of the book :

It contains approximately 66 400 words on 480 B5 (170x240mm) pages. The book is illustrated with 1600 colour photographs taken by my late wife, Adri, and myself and, with a very few exceptions, all were taken in the area.

Like the previous books, this one is self-published and was undertaken without any sponsorship or financial assistance. The marketing and distribution of the book will be undertaken by myself and I will have stock of the books here in Windhoek, Namibia, as well as at my parents who live in the Western Cape, South Africa. The cost of the book is N$450 excluding postage, and people can either collect the book in person or we can mail the book to any address in the world. (1N$ =1ZAR)

Hallo ihr erfahrenen Fomis, gibt es Reiseveranstalter, welche Touren mit Übernachtung durch den Kaudom für die "unerfahrenen Touris" anbieten?
Habe bisher nur von Tagestouren von der Tsumkwe Lodge gehört! Gibt es hier Erfahrungen?

Hallo Ihr Fomis,
ich bringe dieses Thema noch mal hoch.
Wir planen eine neue Rundreise im Oktober Khaudum, Nkasa Rupare, CKGR, Mabuasehube, KTP. Ein aktueller Artikel (28. 2. Fern der Herde) in der Süddeutschen von Dominik Prantel hat nochmal unsere Neugierde auf Khaudum vergrößert. Dieser Park wird auf der geplanten Reise der einzige unbekannte sein.
Hat jemand von Euch neuere Informationen über die Vorschrift, nur im Konvoi einfahren zu dürfen?
Wer hat einen guten Rat, wie man an einen Guide kommt, der ca. drei Tage mit uns dort verbringen würde?

Es gibt keine Vorschrift mehr, mit mindestens zwei Fahrzeugen zu fahren. Das ist nur noch eine Empfehlung. Bei uns wurde von den Rangern am Gate in keinster Weise darauf eingegangen, dass wir allein unterwegs waren und wir hatten direkt mit dem Chef zu tun.
